7 acts not to miss at Australian Music Week 2017

With Australian Music Week (AMW) vastly approaching (November 1-3, 2017), you’ll want to keep your eyes out for some of the best up and coming artists featured there. AMW is your chance to experience some of the best emerging musical talents and is not to be missed – check out our list below to see some of the artists we’re most excited about!


Now located in Melbourne, this singer-songwriter was one of the finalists in last year’s Triple J Unearthed NIMA competition, though since then is now on track for releasing her own album. Her self-written music is known to be Melancholic with a piano driven sound, which utilises her skills as a singer as well as her song-writing capabilities. She is definitely a must-see at AMW, check out her music below:

Sydney based punk/ indie/ rock band Borneo have been making headlines with their new sound which has been labelled as ‘dance-punk’. They’ve been selling out their Sydney shows, as well as spending last year touring up the east-coast of Australia making them one of the most anticipated headliners at AMW. Another up and coming Sydney based band, who have not only taken Australia by storm, Bad Pony are set to extend their sound further internationally, with a placement at next year’s SXSW already on the cards. Their sound is predominantly pop, indie, rock, which you can check out below!


For those of you who love your country music, Freya Josephine isn’t one to miss. Her voice and music has been labelled as Dolly Parton inspired with her own vintage addition. This is another Sydney based indie, rock that has been making a massive name for themselves. Their music has been described as having a vibrant rhythm section with strong, lavish vocals giving them a unique and refreshing sound. Their live performances have been creating a buzz amongst their audiences – check out the track below to see why!

The emergence of this Adelaide-based Electronic duo has been explosive to say the least! With their 80’s inspired take on modern-electro pop, Emily Smart and Hamish Cox have been making headlines being recently nominated for ‘Most Popular Electronic Artists’ (2017), and previously nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ (2016). They have just finalised several upcoming singles, but before that you can indulge in some of their other masterpieces below:


After spending the past year touring around the world, this singer-songwriter from Byron Bay will return at AMW to showcase for a strongly cultivated base of music fans. His sound is piano based and has been beautifully executed in his latest track, which combined with his astoundingly live performances will no doubt create something for you to remember.
