You can boot a football around with a tank now if you want

Proving that not even non-sentient military hardware is safe from World Cup fever, World of Tanks is now letting you use its many vehicles to play a very explodey version of 3v3 Rocket League.

The 3v3 mode, replete with commentary from Italian star Gianluigi “Gigi” Buffon, is rather straightforwardly called Tank Football and its exactly what it sounds like. You take control of one of three specialised tanks, they drop a big ass football in there and you scuffle about until someone scores a goal. There’s multiple tournaments, stadiums and custom rosters to chew through as well.

Check out the extremely European trailer for the mode below, in which Gigi has to fight a pair of CGI tanks while being dubbed over like a 70’s kung fu film.

If that all seems extremely goofy, you’d be correct, but the mode is also a lot of fun to play and you don’t have to pay anything to play it.

World of Tanks is free-to-play on Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
