The EA Sports FIFA series will now be known as EA Sports FC

EA Sports has revealed this morning that it will be dropping the FIFA brand in favour of a new title moving forward, announcing EA Sports FC. The name change will take place next year, meaning that FIFA 23 will indeed serve as the last EA Sports football game to bear the name. This news isn’t necessarily surprising, as news had broken late last year that FIFA would be looking into charging EA Sports more than $1 billion to retain the FIFA name for four more years.

What this change means for general licensing and rights is still unclear, although multiple teams and organisations around the globe have already stated their intentions to remain with and support the EA Sports franchise moving forward. This split has also seemingly created another football series in the process, as FIFA had announced they would be continuing their video game efforts in a bid to pair with new developers and publishers, should the franchise continue through FIFA 24 without the backing of EA Sports.

We doubt we’ll see any news on the franchise just yet, as EA Sports would ,most certainly be focused on pushing FIFA 23 into the hands of as many football fans as possible across the globe.
