Rock Band 4‘s first big update arrives December 8

Harmonix are set to release the first major update for their rhythm game revival Rock Band 4 next month. The update will bring better calibration, new score challenges and more.

The update arrives December 8 and will bring with it numerous features designed to improve the competitive metagame including leaderboard events, taunts, multi-level breakneck speed and proper combo recog on perfect streaks. For the noobs, there’s also going to be a new auto-kick feature that will play the kick drum for you while you tap away on the snare and toms.

According to Rock Band product manager Daniel Sussman’s post on the Harmonix forums this morning, the developer plans “for monthly updates of varying sizes – some of these updates will contain bug fixes and performance improvements, others will include new features.”

Sussman went on to say that Harmonix is “paying close attention” to fan feedback via the game’s official forums and social media accounts for their cues on which future features to include and which current issues require attention.

This is especially good news for players using legitimate electric drum kits who have found themselves locked out on the Xbox One version of the game due to a lack of compatibility between wired controllers and the console.
