The wait for footage from Bioware’s space-faring role-player Mass Effect Andromeda has been an excruciatingly long one, but it seems the gates are slowly beginning to open. The latest gameplay trailer debuted during The Game Awards last night and takes us on a guided tour of some the galaxy’s most hostile planets.

Bioware’s Aaron Flynn was on hand to introduce the trailer, telling the assembled crowd that “making games is very, very hard.” Though the comment drew an appreciative laugh from the throng, there was little doubt he meant it.
Flynn went on to thank the crowd for their patience before throwing to the trailer, which provides a look at some gorgeous planets, the game’s leading lady, some vehicle segments and a whole lot of combat.
“You are the Pathfinder: part explorer, part soldier, part guide,” intones the narrator. “It’s your job to find a new home for humanity. … Resources are scarce. Planets are hazardous, or outright uninhabitable.”
Also featured was the game’s protagonist Ryder (the game’s protagonists are fraternal twins, a brother and sister, one of which will be selected as your avatar while the other will exist elsewhere in the game world). Ryder is the Pathfinder, the leader of the expedition into the Andromeda galaxy to find the human race a new home. The trailer shows her scanning for loot and information (which gave this Metroid Prime fan a thrill), hooning about in a retooled Mako tank and starting fights with quest givers.
Mass Effect Andromeda‘s producer Michael Gamble took to Twitter right after the trailer dropped to egg eagle-eyed fans on.
Pick it apart. The whole thing. There’s TONS in there 🙂 powers, weapons, locations. New friends…and enemies.

The new gameplay trailer follows on from last month’s long-awaited first look. Mass Effect Andromeda is set to launch in “Spring 2016,” which is Autumn for us here in Aus.
