New God of War Ragnarok trailer suggests Asgard is very angry

We’ve waited a long time for information on God of War Ragnarok. Today, at last, the drought is over.

A brand new story trailer debuted at today’s PlayStation Showcase. The trailer features a rush of images from the next phase of Kratos and Atreyu’s journey into Norse mythology. It appears the game takes place several years after the original. Atreyu is older, well and truly into his teens. His voice has dropped, his face is more angular. Where the father and son duo were on a pilgrimage to a specific location in the first game, here it appears they’re on the run.

Here’s what we think we’ve been able to piece together: Baldur’s demise and the decision to betray Freya has come at a price. Asgard is angry. Kratos, having gone to war with one pantheon already, reasons quite fairly that it’s time to leave. Headstrong Atreyu wants a fight. This will, of course, be the last thing Kratos will ever want for his son. Atreyu must not suffer the same fate as his father — but does Kratos truly have a say in the matter?

That’s DRAMA, baby!!

God of War Ragnarok does not yet have a release date. At this stage, it’s slated for release exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2022.
