E3 2018: Kingdom Hearts 3 has a release date. This is not a drill.

Two days ahead of their E3 2018 press conference, and in the dead of bloody night, Square Enix have announced a release date for the long awaited third installment of the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

January 29, 2019. That’s when you can play Kingdom Hearts 3. It feels so incredibly bizarre to finally be able to write that down.

The release date technically constitutes a delay, as Square Enix had previously indicated that the game would be available in 2018 but, honestly, at this point, we’re okay with it. It’s been 13 years — another month isn’t going to kill us.

The Square Enix E3 press briefing is still scheduled for 3am AEST on Tuesday, June 12, which is when you would think an announcement of this sort would go down quite well. But no. No. Let’s drop on at 1am on the Saturday before E3.

Why the hell not.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is (finally) coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
