BlizzCon 2016: Overwatch getting Arcade mode, brand new maps

Overwatch is set to launch a new Arcade mode in the coming weeks. Arcade will be released onto the Public Test Realm next week along with a map based around frost damage defense hero Mei called Eco Point, and long-awaited new hero Sombra.

Arcade mode will offer 1v1 and 3v3 versus play, along with “a variety of regularly rotating alternate game modes,” featuring oddball rulesets and the opportunity to scoop bonus XP and unlockables. Arcade marks the first new game mode since Competitive launched back in June.

PC players will be the first to get their hands on the new mode which will arrive there ahead of being pushed to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. This is also true of the new Eco Point map, which is built for regular 6v6 play but also the 1v1 and 3v3 duels that Arcade provides.

The frosty Eco Point map itself is the first of two new maps that will arrive in the game before year’s end, the other being Oasis which is a desert Control Point map that is set to drop in December (which would put it in the right time frame to coincide with any potential Christmas events).

Look for Eco Point, Arcade and Sombra on the PTR starting next Wednesday.
