Yarra Valley Writers Festival announces digital line-up for May event

It was announced late last month that the inaugural Yarra Valley Writers Festival would be an online-only event. Today, organisers have revealed a jam-packed livestream line-up for the May 9th celebration.

Programmed by playwright Hannie Rayson, the festival will extend its reach beyond a single Saturday, with book clubs and author chats running into late May and beyond.

Rayson says:

‘This is a unique opportunity to be part of the most intimate encounter with the writers we love. We’ll be inviting them into our own homes. And asking them to share their most personal insights, anxieties and hopes at a time when, more than ever, the world needs compassion and imagination,’

Hosted by festival ambassador Michael Veitch, the May 9th programme will open with Professor David Lindenmeyer, speaking on saving the environment. Other speakers include playwright David Williamson, Stella Prize-winner Charlotte Wood, and Mammoth author Chris Flynn.

Sessions will be broken up by performances, Q&As, and videos celebrating the region.

Tickets to the event start from just $15, with even the most basic package giving you access to a full day of events.

For the full line-up, and to grab your tickets, please see the Yarra Valley Writers Festival website.
