If you’ve been to a public lecture in Australia over the last couple of years, there’s a good chance you’ve been to a Think Inc. event.
Over the last couple of years the group have brought the likes of Dr Cornel West, Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak to Australian shores – they even virtually brought Edward Snowden to Australian audiences around the country.
Now they’ve unveiled their 2017 line-up of speakers, or most of them at least, the team are keeping quiet on the details of what they’re calling their “biggest event yet”.
The season kicks off in February with teen Climate Change activist and hip-hop artist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez. Martinez is 16, has already addressed the General Assembly at the United Nations, and sued the U.S. Government. Now he’s bringing his environmental message to Australian audiences in Melbourne and Sydney.
For their second event of the year Think Inc. will once again have to rely on video link, as they beam Wikileaks founder and editor-in-chief Julian Assange into venues around the country. Assange will be talking about the need for journalistic freedom and his personal incarceration.
The 2017 season will also see the return of Dr. Brian Greene, with the superstar physicist coming back for the second year in a row, this time with a new show. So those of you that missed out on tickets this year will get another chance, so be quick!
Also visiting our shores will be author and secular activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who will be talking on religious fundamentalism and intolerance. 2017 will also feature a visit from futurist, philosopher and filmmaker Jason Silva, who will be bringing his take on philosophy, creativity and technology to Australian audiences in June 2017.
Think Inc. will also be teaming up with Australian Skeptics to present Skepticon 2017, a convention designed to call bullshit on all the pseudoscientific claims floating around out there in the world.
For 2017 Think Inc. are offering audiences the option of an Annual Pass. Priced at $299 the pass will entitle its holders to VIP access to all the upcoming events until December 2017, access to the lecture recordings, and flexible seating options. Alternatively instead of paying the $299 in one payment, there is also the option to break it down into payments of $29.99 over the space of the year.
Single tickets will also be available for each of the shows at the dates specified on the Think Inc website.
