The Blue Room Theatre announces first two shows of 2016’s Season One

On the back of a hugely successful Summer Nights season as part of Fringe World 2016, Perth’s The Blue Room Theatre have announced the first two shows in their Season One program; ahead of a full season launch on March 23rd.

Opening the season will be Selkie by Renegade Productions and The Mars Project by The Skeletal System; both productions coming from acclaimed production teams, with a proven track record at The Blue Room.

Selkie, written by Finn O’Branagáin (The Epic, The Crossing) and directed by Joe Lui (Letters Home, The Tribe) is a provocative work that promises to take audiences for a swim in the whirlpool of love, cultural exploitation and domestic oppression. The work explores the mythological ‘otherness’ of Ronnad, a selkie who is lost in a relationship where she is both owned and prized.

The Mars Project, comes from the award winning team behind the award-winning Great White, and presents a story about chasing your dreams, whatever the cost. From the frenzied celebrity driven world, to the rampaging cult of “self-fulfillment”, The Mars Project aims to unravel the absurdities of our me-first age and explores what it means to be superhuman – asking just how much we’d sacrifice for the chance at a new life.

The full April-July Season One program will be comprised of seven shows, and will be officially launched on March 23rd, when tickets to the remaining five shows will go on sale.

The Blue Room Theatre once again aims to present an eclectic season, with brand new works that are unique to the here and now, presented by a range of emerging and established artists; some familiar to the Blue Room Stage and some stepping on to it for the first time.
