Six local comedians not to miss at the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) through 19th April!

Kicking off over the weekend, it’s hard to know where to begin with the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival schedule. Every night there is so much amazing comedy – both from local and international talent – that it’s a job within itself to try and decide what to see. Well, we thought we’d lend a hand and bring you some of our picks for the festival. We’re kicking things off today by highlighting six local talents whose shows we don’t think you’re going to want to miss…

Corey White “The Cane Toad Effect”

“In his debut solo show, Corey White sifts through the wreckage of a broken home, mental illness and failed love, delivering an hour of sparkling stand-up comedy that cuts through woe to the beautiful heart of life. This is a show that affirms the power of the human spirit and the glory of being alive.” There’ll be 22 shows through 19th April!

Bart Freebairn “Ultra Power Lord”

Nick Capper “Capper”

“To every story there are two sides, that’s up until now. Capper is a show that will introduce the Nick Capper side of the story. It will be the Capper take on his story, your story and someone vastly removed from either of you’s story. Capper is not only a name, it’s an attitude, it’s an understanding and it’s a lifestyle.” We’re also promised lasers. There are 12 performances of this show until 18th April.

Dilruk Jayasinha “Immigrateful”

“Who is this Dilruk Jayasinha? And how can he afford his lifestyle on the tens of dollars he earns as a comedian? Everyone seems to have their own story about him. Now after a decade of decadence, he’s weighing his love for his life in Australia against time away from the people in Sri Lanka who’ve loved him the most.” We’re really looking forward to this one and there are 22 chances to see it through April 19th.

Rob Caruana “Learn Comedy”

“How much comedy would a comedian teach if a comedian could teach comedy? That’s the age-old question that has finally been answered. Rob Caruana has been performing stand-up comedy for so long that he’s lost count of the days. From festival shows, to open mic rooms, he’s done it all.” There are 11 shows of this one until 5th April!

Steele Saunders “Bitter Sweet”

“Why do good things have to end? What if your fiancée moves to the other side of the planet? Is it normal to then start talking to your cat? All this will be answered in a very humorous way. Trust me, I’m pretty good at this.” There are 16 performances of this show until 19th April.
