It’s official! The Mormons are coming to Sydney!

The Book of Mormon has proved to be one of the most controversial and critically acclaimed Broadway shows in history, and now after much anticipation the hit musical will officially be making its way to Sydney’s Lyric Theatre on 28th February 2018.

Described by our own reviewer as, ‘two-and-a-half hours of sheer intellectual and comedic brilliance,’ the Australian production of The Book of Mormon has already been a smash hit since opening at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre earlier this year, with over 250 performances selling out.

Written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the bizarrely wonderful minds that gave us South Park and Avenue Q‘s Robert Lopez, the show was an immediate success on Broadway; gaining nine Tony Awards, four Olivier Awards and a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre album.

Following two Mormon missionaries as they attempt to spread the word of the Mormon faith to a fictional tribe in Uganda, The Book of Mormon draws from the devilishly delightful dark humour of South Park.

The Australian production has so far seen a variety of US performers fly down under to play the show’s two leads, though the casting for the Sydney season is yet to be announced.
