No way. This is actually HAPPENING.
POWDERFINGER ARE GETTING BACK TOGETHER!
Sixteen years. SIXTEEN YEARS since the Sunsets Farewell Tour, and I honestly thought we’d never see the day.
The cryptic billboards, the teasers, all the hints… and now it’s REAL. Powderfinger are back, with all five members reuniting for a massive 18-date Australian tour across September and October 2027!
Bernard, Darren, Ian, John and Jon. The songs. The memories. The absolute goosebumps of hearing these songs live again.
From “My Happiness” to “These Days”, “My Kind of Scene”, “Passenger”, “Sunsets” and “On My Mind”, … tell me I’m not the only one already losing my mind?!
We said goodbye in 2010 thinking that was it. And now, almost 17 years after their final show, one of Australia’s most beloved bands is heading back on the road.
And they’re doing it in spectacular fashion.
Powderfinger are hitting the road with a massive travelling big top, bringing a rock ‘n’ roll circus to Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. The stadium-sized big top will feature both standing and seated ticket options, food and drinks, and a festival-like atmosphere designed to bring thousands of fans together.
The band will set up at Brisbane Showgrounds, Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, Wellington Square in Perth, The Domain in Sydney, Ellis Park in Adelaide and Melbourne Park Oval in Melbourne.
And the band are every bit as excited as we are.
“We are absolutely ecstatic to be coming together to play again,” said Powderfinger. “Over the years there have been tons of suggestions for us to go back on the road but, until now, it never felt quite right or lined up for all of us.”
“We have always been so grateful for the continued support from our long-term fans and over the years we’ve picked up a lot of new ones who have never seen us play. So, it feels right to bring all of these people (including our kids who were too young to see us play) together for a special run of shows around the country next year.”
With seven studio albums, 18 ARIA Awards and a catalogue packed with some of Australia’s most beloved songs, Powderfinger have left an extraordinary mark on the country’s music landscape. Their 2010 Sunsets Farewell Tour attracted more than 300,000 fans, and for many of us, it really did feel like the end of an era.

But now a whole new generation will have the opportunity to experience Powderfinger live, while longtime fans get to relive the music and memories that made the band so special in the first place.
And it’s not just about Powderfinger. They’ll be bringing along an all-Aussie lineup of support acts, featuring a mix of emerging and established artists, with different performers joining them across the tour. There’s a special support announcement coming during AusMusic Month in November, so keep your eyes peeled!
It’s fantastic to see the band using their reunion to champion Australian music, giving local artists the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of fans and supporting the crews, managers and creative teams who make our music industry tick.
They’re also teaming up with Mission Australia to help support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, including those experiencing homelessness. It’s a cause that means a lot to the band, and they’ll be raising money and awareness throughout the tour. More information on how we can all get involved is coming soon.
Speaking about what they hope to achieve with the reunion, the band shared:
“People often tell us that our music is connected to their most treasured and joyous memories. We hope to spread a little more of that joy when we make our way around the country with some of Australia’s best established and upcoming talent, and to make some new memories for us all.”
Honestly, a massive Powderfinger reunion tour, Aussie support acts, a travelling big top and a chance to give back along the way? Sounds pretty special to me.
Sixteen years of waiting, and it’s finally happening. Who else is counting down the days?
