Steve Valentine, screen star and world champion magician (appearing in The Illusionists, Wizards of Waverly Place, Crossing Jordan and even Spider-Man 3) will lead the international ensemble of Hook’s Neverland, which will run at Sydney Opera House in January 2027.
Valentine will be joined by first-mate, Smee, (Norwegian contortionist Captain Frodo whose previous credits include Circus Oz, La Clique and La Soirée). It is set to be a circus spectacular, featuring aerial artistry, illusions, comedy and spectacular visual effects.
Joining Valentine are circus artists from around the world, including the Tic Tac Trio (from Colombia and Spain), the Gomonov Knife Show (hailing from Belarus), skating duo Candela Sica (Argentina) and Jhoan Campa (Mexico) who perform speed, spins and lifts, and finally The Catwall Acrobats (United States, Canada, Brazil) who will catapult high above the stage with a signature Russian swing act.
The creative team of Hook’s Neverland also draw an impressive line of credits. The creators, Craig Ilott and Stuart Couzens, recently created GATSBY at The Green Light. Director, Neil Dorward also directed the fabulous Circus 1903, and choreographer and resident director Richard Peakman worked on Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Auana. It doesn’t stop there as associate director Katy Tate’s credits include America’s Got Talent Live. Set designer Dan Potra comes from Beauty and the Beast and How to Train Your Dragon, and costume designer James Browne’s credits include The 39 Steps and Velvet Inferno.
This production is set to be nothing short of magnificent, with the cast and crew all set to take audiences on a captivating journey to Neverland and back.
Hook’s Neverland will run in the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House from 9 to 17 January 2027. It then sets sail through the skies down to the Canberra Theatre Centre from 21 to 24 January 2027.
