Club D’Amour’s final fling delivers everything at Fringe World Perth

CLUB D'AMOUR: Encore

Virtuoso acrobatics, debaucherous drag, hedonistic humour, heart-stirring heights, insane fire breathing. Club D’Amour: Encore has it all.

By the end of the show, it’s hard to believe they actually packed all that into 80 thrilling minutes.

But time flies when you’re having fun, right?

Even after a 30-minute delay on opening night with a sell-out crowd in tow at Perth’s Fringe World Festival, which is on until February 15.

That’s exactly what this show delivers, as the octet led by drag goddess MC Fay Rocious offer up their own dazzling individual slices of masterly and risque goodness. Fay Rocious demands centre stage with her charisma and prowess – and her vagina pants.

But vocalist Christine Ibrahim – who opened with ‘One Of My Kind’ – provides a brilliant side-act with her incredible range and authentic charm.

The acrobatic skills which book-end the show are spectacular, particularly the height-defying cloud-swinging final act from ‘nerdy’ Tom McKinnon, which will leave your chin on the floor.

It’s also playful and cheeky, with Fay Rocious dancing her ‘dogs’ on a tight lead, Chrissy doing her best cover of Mozart and a bath tub scene that doesn’t really need to make sense.

The crowd interactions were organic and flirtatious without overdoing it, nor making anyone feel uncomfortable even after a spontaneous blind date with the leggie Melina culminating in
a brilliant rendition of Raye’s Triple J Hottest 100 top 10 finisher ‘Where Is My Husband!’.

For pure entertainment, it’s impossible to fault this group, who never gave the crowd a moment to catch their breath, let alone check their watch.

Prepare to smile, laugh and be amazed.
