Day 2 of Beyond The Valley came and went in a hot, dusty haze. Most of this week is a haze, really- that odd time between Christmas and New Years when you have no clue what day it even is. Except this time, it’s filled with live music, great food and the best vibes.
The Valley Stage opened with Lucky, followed by Sex Mask, both playing concise sets filled with big energy- the perfect way to kick off a day of stellar live music. The Dance Dome was still pumping, and Dr Dans was well and truly going off. The sun was absolutely cooking, making The Palms Pool House a popular attraction.
Miss Kaninna took to the Valley Stage later in the afternoon, performing an electric set. If you’re unfamiliar with the First Nations pop icon, you won’t be for long- the way she commanded the stage with her poster energy and earworm hits was mesmerising. Looking around the festival grounds it was clear that Miss Kaninna gained thousands of new fans after this set.
Mallrat also delivered an amazing performance, the Brisbane star now having enough hits to pack her setlist full of bangers. She drew a massive crowd, with patrons vibing along as the weather cooled down gradually.
Meanwhile, over at the Dance Dome, attendees were treated to massive sets from Josh Baker, Prospa, Chris Stussy and Kettama among others, all keeping the energy well and truly alive. The area was overflowing with hyped patrons and doof sticks, making it hard to get in amongst the action, but it looked fun from a distance!
JoJo was another notable act. The 2000s singer is having a real moment- recently collaborating with All Time Low, joining the Jonas Brothers at their Masacheussettes show, and having released her latest single NGL this year. Her set was fun, nostalgic and the perfect soundtrack to the summer sunset.

While Jake Webb and Metwally were killing it over at Dr Dans, the Valley Stage started to get crowded as the headline act slot approached.
Having only played in Australia a little over a month ago, Addison Rae’s return couldn’t come soon enough. The Diet Pepsi singer was so well-suited to this festival atmosphere that her playing there just felt so right. With a full stage production including backup dancers and pyrotechnics, she was a sight to behold- an absolute highlight of the entire festival for me, personally.
As the sun finally sets on Day 2, the action at the Dance Dome continues well into the early hours of the morning, but for many- me included, that’s a wrap.
Day 2 was perfect. The attractions all now in full swing, the sun blistering and the live music out of this world. Beyond The Valley continues to prove itself, and its no wonder why this festival is thriving, especially at a time when many aren’t.
I’m sunburnt, exhausted, and absolutely ready for Day 3.
