The king of art-pop weirdness David Byrne is heading back to Australia and New Zealand in January 2026, touring a brand new live show off the back of his upcoming album Who Is The Sky?, out 5 September via Remote Control / Matador. It’s his first new record in eight years, and the accompanying live show sounds like it’s going to be Byrne’s ambitious brand of unexpected.
Featuring 13 musicians, dancers and singers (including some familiar faces from his American Utopia band), the stage will be in constant motion. Not your usual stage set up, it’s going to be a full ensemble moving freely through a meticulously choreographed set that blurs the line between concert, theatre and movement piece.
Produced by Kid Harpoon and featuring guests like St. Vincent and Hayley Williams, Who Is The Sky? is sharp, strange and deeply joyful. Byrne reflects on everything from love and modern life to moisturising and mortality, delivered with his signature surreal charm.
“I can step outside my comfort zone with the knowledge that I kind of know who I am by now,” says Byrne. “That said, every new set of songs is a new adventure.”
This will be Byrne’s first visit since the American Utopia tour landed on our shores in 2018. One of the most inventive artists to ever grace the stage, we can’t wait to see him do it all again, this time with an extra kick.
Tickets go on sale this Friday 13 June at 1pm local time, with a Frontier Members presale live Thursday 12 June at 2pm.
