STONEFEST 2010 – Bigger, Brighter, Bolder!
SATURDAY 30 OCTOBER at the University of Canberra

The Frontier Touring Company, in association with the University of Canberra’s entertainment division UC LIVE!, are thrilled to announce the lineup for this year’s hotly anticipated Stonefest festival scheduled for Saturday 30 October 2010 and held on the University’s grounds.

The addition of Frontier Touring as festival co-promoters is sure to add to the magnitude of the festival. This year sees Frontier celebrating its 30th year of operation and 500th tour. Frontier Touring are extremely pleased to be a part of the venerable Stonefest festival in 2010.

Stonefest has previously hosted an array of highly reputable local and international artists including Cut Copy, The Waifs, Paul Kelly (2007), Faker, Grinspoon, The Dandy Warhols (2008), Josh Pyke, Children Collide, British India, The Living End and Birds of Tokyo (2009).

At 42 years of age, Stonefest is one of the nation’s veteran music festivals, if not the oldest, and this year sees it soar to new heights.

Stonefest 2010 will be headlined by none other than international dance sensation Pendulum. These electronic pioneers have released a series of widely acclaimed albums, the latest being Immersion which reached #1 in the UK and #3 on the ARIA album charts. Following mesmerizing performances at this year’s Big Day Out and the renowned Glastonbury music festival, Pendulum’s live shows have garnered a stellar reputation of their own and are touted as one of the best live dance experiences around.

Hip hop aficionados will hardly be able to contain themselves following the confirmation that Bliss N Eso will be taking the stage to perform songs from their extensive back catalogue as well as new tracks from their upcoming album release titled Running On Air. The trio has enjoyed winning, and being nominated for, a series of accolades including multiple MTV Australia Video Music, APRA and ARIA awards and show no signs of slowing down. The Stonefest stage will be the perfect environment to witness their truly dynamic stage presence and engaging charisma live in action.

British punk outfit Does It Offend You, Yeah? will be making an exclusive Australian appearance following previous performances at iconic festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza. The band are currently working on their second album Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You. Be prepared for some serious dance floor wreckage during the band’s ferocious live set.

You can’t deny good ol’ Aussie rock in the form of Spiderbait and Airbourne. These well seasoned performers are sure to have the crowd screaming for more as their rousing anthems, packed with heavy riffs and pounding baselines, sweep across the grounds.

Just as irresistible are the catchy hooks and infectious melodies of pop group Operator Please who have graduated from jovial teens to fully fledged musicians with their sophomore album Gloves and enjoyed previous support slots for the Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs as well as their own shows at Glastonbury and Reading.

Previously deemed ‘too straight for funk, too groovy for indie rock and too sweaty for pop’ (Sydney Morning Herald), Bluejuice have established themselves in a class of their own. No strangers to the Australian festival circuit, the band make it a priority to just have fun on stage, a sentiment that will surely be felt by all in the presence of their energetic live show.

Fellow genre-bending acts, ARIA award winning Clare Bowditch & The New Slang and platinum selling The Panics, will also take to the Stonefest stage to entertain the crowd with their conscientious lyrics and contemporary tunes.

Also performing will be indie darlings Cloud Control, whose debut album Bliss Release was featured on Triple J as ‘Album of the Week’ and entered the ARIA album charts in the Top 20.

Widely hyped upstarts Boy & Bear and Last Dinosaurs have been gaining attention in the music scene for their luscious harmonies and catchy riffs.  Their Stonefest performances are sure to be testament to why both bands are often marked ‘the ones to watch’ by those in the know.

To add to the repertoire, there will be a performance from Triple J’s ‘Unearthed’ winner, sets from Sydney’s beloved Purple Sneakers DJ’s between acts and a silent party hosted by the Funktrust DJs. There’s never a dull moment at Stonefest!

Canberra natives, you know this is one for the calendar. Inter-state music fans, start planning that road trip and gathering the troops to come see what it’s all about – Stonefest 2010 is a live music experience not to be missed.
