Massive 37 band lineup revealed for The Aussie BBQ at CMJ 2015

The Aussie BBQ has become a fixture of the international touring schedule of any emerging Australian band, hitting up events like The Great Escape, Canadian Music Week, SXSW and Music Matters in Singapore every year. Well, next month the event will once again take over the Delancey (168 Delancey St, New York) for an entire day and night of Australian music as part of the annual CMJ conference and music festival.

Sunday in London saw the return of The Aussie BBQ - the live initiative of our music export body Sounds Australia. Hundreds of music fans - both locals and expats - came out for the event which saw over twenty Australian artists performing on two stages over ten hours at the Hoxton Bar and Grill in Shoreditch. It was a chance for us to see well established artists like Safia and Remi an become acquainted with some newer talent, some of whom are now based here in the UK.

An eclectic mix of over 20 artists from around Australia came together on Sunday in London for a massive day of live music - showcasing the finest in new, emerging and established artists from our region, many of whom were making their London debut at the annual Aussie BBQ event, held at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on the day after The Great Escape. Among the artists Larry Heath captured on the day were the likes of SAFIA (pictured above), Remi, Saskwatch, Flyying Colours, Hein Cooper, Service Bells and many, many more... check out the full gallery here:

The Aussie BBQ ft. Remi, Tkay Maidza, Saskwatch and more highlights from Day Three of The Great Escape 2015

Saturday marked the third and final day of the 10th annual The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, England. Larry Heath was on ground at the event to discover new talent and witness some of Australia's finest bands in a unique setting. It is with this in mind that the day started at The Aussie BBQ, held along Brighton's beach at Concorde 2.

Where to see the Australians at Canadian Music Week: Schedules revealed for three major Aussie events!

Tomorrow, the ten day Canadian Music Week festival kicks of in Toronto, Canada. Australia is the focus country of the event this year, and as part of the celebrations, there will be three major showcases of Australian talent. Two of which are being put on by our friends at Sounds Australia, and the other by Footstomp Music in partnership with us here at the AU review!

The Aussie BBQ returned to Brush Park on Friday, taking over the East and West sides of the venue to bring a day full of incredible Australian acts. Sosefina already brought you the full live review, but now here are some photo highlights from the day. First up, we start with the BBQ itself, supplied this year by Franks Sausages. It was delicious.

The Aussie BBQ takes over Brush Square Park at SXSW 2015; Full lineup and set times announced!

The Aussie BBQ is returning to the park from whence it came... For the the 2015 event, SXSW will see The Aussie BBQ move from Saturday to the Friday and take over both sides of Brush Square Park for the first time ever - returning to the site for the first time since 2009. Here are all the details you need about the event, revealed today:

the AU interview: Money For Rope (Melbourne) chat in Mumbai about intercultural collaboration and a 2015 album!

Money For Rope spoke with the AU review's Johnny Au at the Aussie BBQ in Mumbai earlier this month. They chatted about how amazing it was to go to Bombay's biggest recording studio in the heart of Bollywood for Song Hub, which exposed them to other cultures and ways of songwriting, made them feel like they were on a school camp with fellow Aussie bands, Peking Duk, Cloud Control and Appleonia. They spoke about how excited they are to be supporting Courtney Barnett around Europe, and outlined their plans to release a new album in 2015.

Our head photographer Johnny Au has been travelling around India with four Australian artists Appleonia, Cloud Control, Money For Rope and Peking Duk. They made a stop at Mumbai to play The Aussie BBQ showcase at the packed Blue FROG venue as part of the Music Connects conference. All four artists played exceptionally well and the mostly local Blue FROG audience were keen to discover Australian music acts to follow.

Hello Asia editor Johnny Au chats with Aussie artist Demi Louise in Seoul, South Korea. Demi was in Seoul as Australia's first showcase artist at the MU:CON conference. Demi spoke about her past year performing in the UK, Malaysia and her experiences in Seoul. We also spoke about her upcoming CMJ appearance and a lounge room tour in November.

the AU review sat down with Gold Coast's Fairchild while in Toronto to talk about the Australian presence at Canadian Music Week, the release of their EP Burning Feet and their plans to get into the studio at the end of the year - "we've got a whole year of music hopefully".

With a belly full of chicken I played my second showcase at a place called The Free Times Café on College Street. A cute little pub/bar with a tiny stage out the back and a neat guitar mural which you can just about make out in the photo. My lovely friend Steve took this picture during soundcheck.

Kicking off tonight is the annual Music Matters conference and LIVE festival in Singapore. Over 60 bands from 18 countries will be in attendance, including an impressive dose of Australian bands. In addition to other appearances, if you happen to be in Singapore for the event, your best bet to experience all that Australia has to offer is either at the "Sound Gallery" on Wednesday night or "The Aussie BBQ" on Thursday night. Whether you're attending or not, we at the AU have put together these playlists for the events to find out either A) what you have to look forward to or B) what you're missing out on!
