Festival Review: Field Day - The Domain, Sydney (01.01.15)

The concept of a music festival the day after the biggest global celebration, New Years Eve, seems flawed from the get go. But the crowd and energy tell a very different story. Festival boys are wearing deep, deep v-neck singlets matched with beards and bucket hats, every other girl is either in a black trilby hat or a bra-less midriff, and everyone is there for a good time.

the AU interview: Chris Wood of Bastille (UK) on Band Aid, cracking America and returning to Australia!

As I have a quick chat with Bastille's drummer and all round good guy Chris Wood, the band is wrapping up their US tour, a trip which has proven to be quite fruitful for them once again. "The album has just gone crazy in the US, especially." he says. "America is so hard to crack and we've certainly not cracked it yet, but it feels like it's starting to happen a little bit."

Festival Review: Field Day - The Domain, Sydney (01.01.14)

With a big night before in check, Field Day offered enough dance music to keep the celebrators happy while offering a few more chilled out options for those still recovering from New Year’s Eve. Its size, slightly smaller than a regular festival, meant that it was easier to get around and criss-cross genres throughout the day.

Crystal Fighters are currently in the country for a run of summer festival dates, as well as some club shows and before it all kicked off, I caught up with them as they were on the road through Europe. I last chatted with the band when their latest album Cave Rave was about to drop and since then, they've gone on to build on it's acclaim with huge shows through the US and UK.
