ARIA AWARDS

the AU interview: Hermitude & The Preatures on their multiple ARIA nominations for 2015!

Two acts who are up for a cheeky few ARIA Awards apiece this year come straight outta NSW but from different ends of the spectrum; you've got The Preatures, the five piece who have been elevated to become one of the country's favourite live touring acts off the back of their debut album Blue Planet Eyes and then you have Hermitude, the Blue Mountains duo who've been storming festival stages around the world as well as sell-out headline shows with their slick and sophisticated electronic-driven tunes. Larry caught up with both at last week's ARIA nominations event in Sydney to see how everything's been going...

the AU interview: Reuben Styles from Peking Duk (ACT) talks about their 2 ARIA nominations, Matt McGorry and SAFIA

Fresh from the announcement that Peking Duk were down for two ARIA nominations - Best Dance Release and Song of the Year for "Take Me Over" - I sat down with Reuben Styles from the Canberra duo to talk about the nominations, the brilliant video for "Say My Name" featuring Matt McGorry (as well as the "Tour Diary" version), their work with Benny from SAFIA and the road ahead...

the AU interview: Dave Le'aupepe talks new Gang of Youths music & their 5 ARIA nominations!

For Gang of Youths, this year has been full of highs off the back of their acclaimed debut record, The Positions. A solid year of live shows have seen the Sydneysiders rise up as one of the most popular touring rock bands of the year, while their recent national album tour saw multiple shows sell out incredibly quick. Today, the band scooped five ARIA Award nominations for the record, acting as a shiny, pointy cherry on the top of a pretty decent cake. Frontman Dave Le'aupepe caught up with Larry after the nominations were revealed today, not quite having processed the news yet.

Courtney Barnett leads ARIA Award nominations for 2015; Artisan and Fine Arts Award winners announced!

The nominations for the 2015 ARIA Awards have taken place in Sydney today, with the winners of the Artisan and Fine Arts categories also being announced. Courtney Barnett won her first ARIA Award during the event, taking away a statue for Best Cover Art, while Kevin Parker won both Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year for Tame Impala's latest album, Currents. For Barnett, today's event revealed her as the artist with the most ARIA nominations for 2015, racking up a massive eight nominations.

the AU interview: We chat to Jake Stone (Sydney) on the ARIA Red Carpet about 2014 and the end of Bluejuice.

As we come to the end of 2014, we've been talking to a lot of our favourite local and international artists about their year in music. Few have had bigger years than Bluejuice's Jake Stone, who has spent the last few months playing shows to bring his time in Bluejuice to an end (though Falls Festival is yet to come!). We spoke to Jake about it all on the ARIA red carpet...

Red Carpet at the 2014 ARIAs: We talk to INXS about Dan Sultan and then they reunite on the ARIA Red Carpet 2014

On the red carpet at the 2014 ARIA Awards, Larry chats with the Fariss brothers of INXS about Melbourne rocker Dan Sultan before the man himself turns out for a nice little reunion! Sultan, a favourite with industry and the public alike, went on to win the Best Rock Album ARIA that night, after being up against the likes of Kingswood and Ball Park Music. He also performed a great rendition of his single "Under Your Skin" at the ceremony as part of the live program.

Backstage at the 2014 ARIAs: Chet Faker (Melbourne) talks touring smaller countries, Vance Joy, the government, and more

It comes to no surprise that immensely talented Melbourne artist Chet Faker would be one of the biggest talking points of the 2014 ARIA awards. The increasingly popular musician was awarded with both the Best Male Artist and Best Independent Release awards (for LP Built on Glass) before he performed a stunning piano ballad version of his hit "Talk Is Cheap".
