Got to give it to the boys in The Bronx. While they are across town opening for Soundgarden, I'm at The Metro waiting for The Vasco Era, who in the past have not impressed me much. The plus side is, my only clash at Thursday's Big Day Out has now been solved and I'm looking forward to some Mariachi music soon enough.

After two previous LPs in 2007 and 2009, The Vasco Era have a released their first self titled album. The band are known for their full rock and roll sound, with screaming vocals and heavy guitars. It’s not music for everyone, but will please fans of Rage Against The Machine, Children Collide, The Mars Volta and similar.

Damn it Gold Coast.
You've let me down again.
Two amazing Aussie bands are co-headlining a must see tour around this fair country of ours and where are you all? Definitely not out supporting the local music industry that's for sure.
Saturday night saw The Vasco Era and Papa vs Pretty stopping off at Cooly Pub for a bit of music and mayhem, playing to a small, but fun and appreciative crowd.

Co-headliners Papa vs Pretty and The Vasco Era brought their thrashing show to the Cooly Hotel. Erin Smith brings you these photos from the fantastic night.

Unfortunately due to a mix up on the door, I was late into the gig on the night. As such, I could only hear openers Glass Towers from afar, and although it wasn't the clearest sound, they sounded like a bright and engaging opener for the night - which made me glad for the crowd who saw them, because the two bands that followed were absolutely mesmerising.

On October 14, The Vasco Era will release a brand new, independent, self-titled album. Recorded live at Melbourne’s Sound Park Studios with producer Steven Schram, The Vasco Era is bursting with nearly freeform metal lashings of noise that whip around the bands blues.

Day one of BigSound LIVE kicked off on Wednesday with a sea of music lovers and BIGSOUND delegates converging on Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
AU photographer Chloe Ryan weaved her way through the labyrinth of Valley venues to shoot The Vasco Era, The Novocaines, Stonefield, World's End Press & The Laurels.

...and we're off! A massive Music Video Monday for you today - once again published minutes before the day is over... but this is so jam packed you'll understand why! First up is our music video of the week: Bon Iver and "Holocene". Maintaining the snow/ice theme of our winner last week, the video - directed by Aussie Nabil Elderkin - is a stunner. And that doesn't even pay mention to the beautiful song that encompasses it.
