The Vaccines and Everything Everything announce co-headline tour of Australia

Both returning to Australia for the first time since before the pandemic, English legends The Vaccines and Everything Everything have teamed up to announce a co-headline tour for May 2024.

With both bands releasing albums this year (Everything Everything release Mountainhead on 1 March, while The Vaccines released Pick-up Full of Pink Carnations in January), it’s a no-brainer that a world tour would be on the cards. But with each band already having a healthy back catalogue, coming up with a setlist might prove to be a little bit harder. With that in mind, here’s ten songs we’d love to see when the bands tour the country in the coming months.

The Vaccines

“Family Friend” (What Did You Expect From The Vaccines)

The most expansive and mature song on their debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines, the slow-build and reflective nature of “Family Friend” makes it the almost perfect closer to a live set.

“I Can’t Quit” (Combat Sports)

A traditional and punchy rock track from their 2018 album Combat Sports, the guitar licks and riffs throughout its sub-3 minute run makes the song one of the band’s better tunes.

“All My Friends Are Falling in Love”

A stand-alone single, “All My Friends Are Falling in Love” was a return to form for the band, all tied up in a crisp and playful track about growing up and finding the one.

“I Always Knew” (Come of Age)

Featuring on their 2012 sophomore release, Come of Age, the racing and consistent “I Always Knew” could very well be the pre-cursor to “All My Friends Are Falling in Love” that would work wonders as a back-to-back in the upcoming tour.

“Lunar Eclipse” (Pick-up Full of Pink Carnations)

The standout highway driving song of 2024 so far, “Lunar Eclipse” is designed for fangin’ it down up the coast, with the windows down and hearts full.

Everything Everything

Kemosabe (Arc)

I’ll never forget the first time I heard “Kemosabe” live. My tent backed onto the Mix-Up stage at Splendour in the Grass 2013, and after succumbing to a nap following a few midday ciders, hearing the falsetto-filled chorus of “Kemosabe” was the late afternoon pick-me-up needed to make it through the final hours of the festival.

No Reptiles (Get To Heaven)

Possibly the crowning moment for the band over their soon to be seven album discography, the operatic and climactic symphony showcases the beauty of a band and song not afraid to be vulnerable.

Distant Past (Get To Heaven)

The biggest and most successful single from the band so far, the rap-esque delivery of front man Johnathan Higgs will never fail to disappoint, whether live or recorded.

Violent Sun (Re-animator)

Placed in the closing moments of their 2020 release, Re-animator, “Violent Sun” has a level of melancholia hidden behind delicious harmonies that is hard to beat.

Cold Reactor (Mountainhead)

The most melodic of songs from the smattering of singles released in the lead up to this year’s Mountainhead, “Cold Reactor” will surely land somewhere in the closing moments of Everything Everything’s setlist this coming tour.
