
The feeling of isolation, desire, coldness and anger which arise from the depths of one’s psyche at points of personal struggle, realisation or change is what the listener is presented with in Steering By Stars’ sophomore album, The Cold Embrace.

Following from the acclaimed album Cables, Steering by Stars release their second album The Cold Embrace. Support on the evening were the exceptionally talented Sincerely, Grizzly and the beautiful minimalist R&B trio Swimming. Our photographer John Goodridge brings us these images of the event.

The AU continues its run of interviews with artists at the Big Day Out, this time at the Adelaide stop of the festival. Adrian and Lachlan stop by before they performed in the morning to chat about what this year's looking like for Steering By Stars.

Big Day Out fans were given something to get excited about when the festival released timetables, local band line ups and more for the 2013 installment! Along with this announcement, the Big Day Out is also thrilled to announce that the Lilypad will be making its return, and there will also be a brand new stage at all festival stops - the Red Stage.

The South Australian music industry will gather at one of the city's most popular venues this November for the Fowler's Live Music Awards for 2012. Aiming to celebrate the diversity of live music produced in SA, the 21 Industry Awards recognise success and achievement over the past year, as judged by Fowler's Live owner and operator, Peter Darwin and a group of music industry professionals.


Steering By Stars have announced their first national tour in support of their recently released single "Ties That Bind". They brought their blend of the dark romanticism of Bauhaus paired with the geographical isolation of Snowmanwith to the Estonian Hall with guests Joe McKee (Burning Boy album launch) and Sparkspitter. Adelaide's Steering By Stars have released details of their first headlining tour as they launch their new single "Ties That Bind" this August. The first single to be taken from their forthcoming sophomore record, due out early next year, "Ties That Bind" is proving to be a great follow up to the material featured on Steering By Stars' debut record, Cables.

Joe McKee will be heading around the country with his gorgoeus solo record, Burning Boy, next month, performing alongside some awesome local talent! The record is out now and shows somewhat of a bold shift for McKee, replacing pulsing rhythms with breathy baritone led soundscapes. McKee will be performing in some beautiful and unique venues on this album launch tour, be sure to get tickets to witness him bring these songs to life!

Adelaide's Steering By Stars is well into the final stages of having their sophomore record completely wrapped up. With a new single, "Ties That Bind", freshly released and some launch shows in the pipeline, these dark post rock producers are ready to unleash some powerful new music. Lead vocalist, Lachlan Wilson takes some time to answer some questions about the making of the record and how it's reflective of Steering By Stars as a band now.

Adelaide’s Leader Cheetah are heading back into writing mode for a follow-up record their sophomore album Lotus Skies, but not before playing a run of final headline shows for the year. Kicking the tour off in their hometown at Jive, the band had advertised a night of fun and surprises, with classic LC songs to be churned out, as well as a hint of what we can be expecting from the band as they head into Album Three territory.
