Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, Magic Johnson & more announced as SXSW 2017 Speakers!

Some huge names have been revealed to be speaking at SXSW next year, as the tech, music, film, business, sports and journalism fields start ramping up for the conference and festival in March.

Named on this first wave of speakers are Jennifer Doudna and Jill Soloway as keynote speakers; Doudna, the geneticist and co-inventor of CRISPR-Cas9, a gene-editing technology and Soloway, the creator of the Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning Transparent.

Joining Doudna and Soloway are speakers from right across the SXSW convention network including NBA legend Magic JohnsonPussy Riot activist and artist Nadya Tolokonnikova, Pinterest’s Head of Diversity Candice MorganMythbusters‘ Adam Savage, author of Disrupted: My Misadventure in the Start-Up Bubble and former Silicon Valley writer Dan Lyons, the Founder and Chairman of Openwater Mary Lou Jepsen, CEO of Empowering a Billion Women by 2020 and businesswoman Ingrid Vanderveldt, CEO of VaynerMedia Gary Vaynerchuk and the co-founder and President of rewardStyleAmber Venz Box.

Registration and press accreditation for SXSW opens on August 1st this year via www.sxsw.com, while the Interactive arm of the conference is accepting entries for the best digital creative work as part of the Interactive Innovation Awards, inventive startups for the SXSW Accelerator competition, video game projects for the SXSW Gaming Awards and a special pitch comp in the Startup Village, ReleaseIt at SXSW.

The SXSW Film Festival is accepting both short and feature film submissions, as well as music video submissions until October 20th – submit HERE.
