the AU interview: Phebe Starr (Sydney) reflects on CMJ and performing in New York!

She may be living the Cali life in LA these days, but Sydney's Phebe Starr definitely represented for her hometown well during CMJ in New York last month. Single Stream: Capetown ft. Phebe Starr "The Night" (2014)

Capetown Capetown

The identities of Brissy-based Electronic Duo Capetown have yet to be revealed, but they have just dropped their epic debut single “The Night”. Featuring Phebe Starr, it’s a pretty mad dance track. Probably drawing on 80’s new wave sounds and Caribbean feels, it’s just great for lounging on a Sunday arvo with a beer. Seriously. Check it out below.

Live Review: The Paper Kites + Phebe Starr - The Gov, Adelaide (21.06.14)

It’s hard to say exactly what genre The Paper Kites fit into, with diverse songs that include folk elements, soft-rock hints here and there and a dab of easy-listening melodies, but their shows are a worthwhile mix of indie bliss. As their Australian tour came to a close at the Gov in Adelaide on Saturday evening, they were joined by the fantastic Airling and Phebe Starr, ensuring the show was filled with unique talent.

Festival Review: Woodford Folk Festival, Day Two - Woodfordia, Queensland (28.12.13)

Day two started with a struggle out of bed but it was worth it to catch the Marko Deferri Duo. Nimble violin danced in and around the stately tones of the accordion, as the band started with some older Jewish heritage pieces. But the feet and fingers really start flying as the two of them continue into tango territory with the accordion matching the violin note for note.

Single Stream: Phebe Starr - "Tonight" (2013)

"Tonight" is Phebe Starr's brand new single, from her sophomore EP due out in 2014. It follows her Zero EP released earlier this year.

Live Review: Gold Fields + Phebe Starr - Jive, Adelaide (19.07.13)

Arriving at Jive this evening, it was comforting to see the venue operating at a decent capacity. A rainy Friday night in Adelaide, there was a large part of me that was expecting a smaller gathering, but people were out and keen to party. Gold Fields were back on Australian soil after a long bout of American touring and for a lot of us, the wait had been too long.

If you have yet to see one of Stars highly-acclaimed performances, and you didn’t flock to their recent Factory Theatre gig, then you just aren't doing it right.
