Recently, the AU review sat down with the guitar-wielding, Melbourne-dwelling, Peter Bibby, at this year’s Laneway Festival. In part one of this two-part interview we discuss touring with fellow Laneway artist Mac Demarco’s mum and playing BIGSOUND 2014.

Festival Review: St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Brisbane (31.01.15)

The Laneway Festival is back doing the rounds once again, and this is the year that it seems to have come back at us with an incredibly solid line-up. From FKA twigs to Perfect Pussy, Courtney Barnett to Banks, Mac DeMarco to Pond and to top it off, the choice of Flight Facilities or Flying Lotus - it is clear Laneway has delivered.

Meg Mac, Remi, Kirin J Callinan and more added to the SXSW Music line up!

SXSW have released another round of musicians from around the world who will be joining the massive music program as part of their 2015 program overnight, featuring a strong line up of Australian artists who are sure to make their impact in Austin next March! Included on SXSW Music's third round are the likes of Meg Mac, Remi, Kirin J Callinan and Tkay Maidza, while on an international level, punters can be expecting the likes of Circa Waves, Best Coast, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Marina and the Diamonds to showcase!

POND confirm Laneway Festival sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne this February!

We're gearing up for the Laneway Festival already and with this morning's announcement that POND have added some special headline shows to their festival run, we're even more excited for the annual Laneway tour to kick off! The band will be showcasing their new album, Man It Feels Like Space Again, at two shows in Melbourne and Sydney next month, the first opportunities fans will have aside from their festival appearances to see some of this anticipated new material in full flight, as it were.

Single Stream: Peter Bibby "Hates My Boozin'" (2014)

Melbourne troubadour Peter Bibby is set to release his brand new single "Hates My Boozin'", which is lifted from his forthcoming debut album Butcher/Hairstylist/Beautician. Written when Bibby was "really drunk, for the thousandth time, and my girlfriend got really upset at me and told me I need to stop drinking or else she would leave me," the song is part Dylanesque defiance, part boozy ballad.

Future Islands, FKA twigs, St Vincent and more on the 2015 St Jerome's Laneway Festival!

After much speculation and wondering, the line up for the 2015 St Jerome's Laneway Festival has been announced with a list of artists that has indeed impressed. With the likes of Lorde, CHVRCHES and HAIM making the journey to Australia for the festival tour last year, the Laneway crew have gone and levelled up with their 2015 class, featuring some massive names including Future Islands, St Vincent, Flying Lotus and more.

Live Review: Pond + Doctopus + Peter Bibby - The Zoo, Brisbane (14.12.13)

In the future, when I think back to the time I saw Pond just before Christmas 2013, the main memories I'll have – besides the outstanding performance of the bands themselves – will be ones of sweat, perspiration, humidity, and even more sweat. That's what happens when Brisbane's aircon-less The Zoo is sold out in summer, but what the hell; it's Saturday night, the cold beers are flowing, and everyone's getting loose in preparation for Pond.

Hand Games turned one back in March and celebrated by throwing a few shindigs around the place...seems like the only right thing to do! Now, they're bringing the party to you once more, as they officially launch their zine with some launch parties around the country.
