Pete Rock & CL Smooth announce debut Australian tour

You hear that? That’s the sound of Hip Hop fans all across Australia counting their lucky stars. At the turn of the century it seemed like heads the world over would never see the legendary duo of Pete Rock & CL Smooth reunite, but fast forward to now and things done changed; one of the most beloved 90’s acts has officially reformed. Not only that, but the emcee-producer team are touring for the 25th anniversary of Mecca & The Soul Brother, and a four-show Australian tour is on the cards.

Though career defining signature cut “T.R.O.Y” is widely considered one of the greatest hip hop songs ever recorded, the duo’s entire well of material together, from All Souled Out to The Main Ingredient, speaks to a consistent sound only the smooth-tongued philosophical emcee and the soulful, seminal producer could deliver. While only three albums (well, two albums and one EP) deep, this should make for more than enough material to fill these sets with classic moments that any discerning hip hop – or even just music – fan would be foolish to miss.

They’ll be touching down in Australia on Wednesday 8th March, taking to Melbourne’s Prince Bandroom before heading up to Sydney the night after. Friday 10th March will see them in Adelaide, the night before they wrap things up in Perth.
