Peabody Release Loose Manifesto and Announce East Coast Tour!

Peabody-lores

Australian rock stalwarts Peabody will release its fourth studio album Loose Manifesto on Friday 1 October 2010. To celebrate, the band will play an eleven date east coast album launch tour this October and November.

Catch Peabody launch Loose Manifesto on Thursday 28 October at the Harp Hotel in Wollongong, Friday 29 October at Yah Yah’s in Melbourne, Friday 5 November at The Annandale Hotel in Annandale, Saturday 6 November at Phoenix Bar in Canberra, Friday 12 November at Lass O-Gowrie in Newcastle, Saturday 13 November at Gearin’s Hotel in Katoomba, and Saturday 20 November at Ric’s in Brisbane.

Peabody will also mark the album release with special in-store performances on Sunday 1 October at Red Eye Records in Sydney.

Loose Manifesto was recorded in four short days in a small shack in Ball’s Head, Sydney, overlooking navy and fishing ships, and an old coal loading dock. It was recorded on the same 8-track tape machine that Nirvana recorded their debut album, Bleach.

Espousing all the punk rock aesthetics and themes of the Swiss World War I ‘anti-art’ movement, Dada (or Dadaism), Loose Manifesto ridicules the meaninglessness of the modern world through a series of short bursts, aural assaults, hypnotic rhythms, verbal sprays and carefully crafted diatribes.

Over the next few weeks, tracks from Loose Manifesto will become available for preview from the band’s website www.peabody.net.au in the lead up to the release of the album.

Since they began in 1995, Peabody has released three albums – Professional Againster (2002), The New Violence (2005) and Prospero (2008). They’ve also released several singles and EPs; toured nationally and internationally; played the Big Day Out, Homebake, Livid, Come Together and Essential festivals; shared stages with You Am I, Youth Group, The Hoodoo Gurus, The Mess Hall, Dappled Cities, Midnight Juggernauts, and The Hard Ons; been on the radio, not been on the radio, been popular, unpopular, cool to dislike, and trendy to love.

With the release of their latest album Loose Manifesto, Peabody prove that after all this time, they’ve still got what it takes. Don’t miss them launch the long player at a venue near you this October and November.
