Photo Gallery: OutsideIn Festival - Manning Bar, Sydney (26.09.15)

The OutsideIn Festival returned to Sydney on Saturday, filling the Manning bar with a diverse range of local and international artists from electronica to hip hop. Some of the highlights included Sable, Cosmo's Midnight, Devin The Dude, Pender Street Steppers, Africa HiTech and headlining the main stage - Big K.R.I.T. It was an incredible day. Check out photos from the event here:

Single of the Day: KUČKA "Honey" (2015)

It's no surprise that the AU loves and supports the talented Perth singer and producer KUČKA - ever since we landed her for our annual birthday celebrations in Brisbane post-BIGSOUND last year, this girl has been consistently rolling out material we've been stoked to hear. Her latest tune, "Honey", joins the same rank, the latest tune taken from her forthcoming Unconditional EP.

Single of the Day: Cosmo's Midnight "Walk with me" Feat. Kučka (2015)

Sydney's favourite electro twins Cosmo's Midnight have collaborated with Kučka on their new track "Walk with Me". The single dropped last night on Triple J and has definitely made waves on Soundcloud hitting over 100k during it's short release in time for their set at Splendour in the Grass. The pair have risen as an act to watch with a national tour under their belt for 2015 and recently joining shows for Porter Robinson.

Album News Weekly: 22nd July 2015

In This Issue:

Keeping it short and sweet this week as July starts coming to a close, but don’t worry huge names are sending out their new releases in the next few months! This week showcases our favourite indie darlings as well as something a little heavier.

Single of the Day: KUČKA “Flux 98” (2015)

Perth producer KUČKA has just announced a new EP and released another single ahead of her Australian tour which kicks off this week. “Flux 98” is full of lush synths and vocals similar to Grimes’, and is self-described as “about those days where the thought of waking up and getting out of bed is so much less interesting than the idea of sleeping in and dreaming.” It’s pretty appropriate for such an out of this world sounding song. Check it out here:

Single Stream: Tobacco Rat “Cavaties” (2015)

Perth producer Jake Steele (also of Kucka) this week released his first song under the name Tobacco Rat, “Cavaties” this week. He’s described it as “a track created almost by accident, from experimentations with percussive scrap metal hits and reverb-drenched synth patches”, and it lives up to its description; a glitchy but huge sounding electronic piece, reminiscent of Aphex Twin.

New Music Video: Catlips "Fade" (2015)

Perth producer Catlips, who’s also known for playing keys in Kucka, has released a video for her song “Fade”. Directed by LA-based Chela, the video is colourful, trippy and confusing, but matches the warped driving beats of Catlips perfectly. Check out the new video here:

New Music Video: KUČKA "Divinity" (2015)

Laura Jane Lowther, the Perth artist who performs under the moniker of KUČKA, is one wickedly talented lady. I was blown away when I saw her and her band perform at BIGSOUND last year and was surprised to connect the dots to realise she was behind those vocals on A$AP Rocky's "Fashion Killa" track. With an emerging profile on the Australian music industry growing for herself in her own right, KUČKA is making a definite impression and we're excited that more people are starting to notice.

Larry interviews Perth electro act KUČKA during the WAM Festival in Perth to talk about picking up three WA Music Awards, performing at WAM, being an 'experimental artist' and their experiences with the 'Unconditional' single and tour. KUČKA also talks about plans for their new EP.

The WA music scene is without question among the finest in this country. I dare say it gives Melbourne a run for its money, winning out with its vast and eclectic nature. From experimental electronic to psychedelic rock, pop grooves and indie beats, there is something to be found for everyone here. It's what makes this list so difficult - no two bands were the same. But that said, there were a few favourites that stuck out from my weekend in Perth. Here are the WA bands you need to check out:

Timothy Nelson & The Infidels, Pond, The Love Junkies and more win at the 2014 WA Music Awards!
