Jon Hopkins (UK) talks about his musical process, dream collaborations and more backstage at Laneway Singapore

This past weekend the AU review had the opportunity to sit in a media conference with UK’s Jon Hopkins at Laneway Festival in Singapore. He talks about his definition of ‘indie’ music as being more “independently spirited music” and “music that’s a little more messier and free”.

He discusses musicians he would like to collaborate with in the future such as Thom Yorke or Sigur Ros as well as who he would like to rework his material such as Flying Lotus. Jon talks his musical process, discussing that it is something that guides him rather than coming in with an intention whilst making music.

Jon Hopkins is touring with Laneway Festival. For more details head to http://www.lanewayfestival.com/
