Grinspoon announce 20th anniversary tour for Guide to Better Living

Grinspoon have come back into the fold this week, dropping a huge 20th anniversary tour to celebrate the legacy of their debut album, Guide to Better Living. The 27 date tour sees the Lismore natives emerge from hiatus to be back on the road to reconnect with fans and revisit the album that started it all.

This doesn’t mean it was an easy decision to make. Vocalist Phil Jamieson hates nostalgia.

“It gets my goat.” he’s said. “What I do love are tunes and we’ve got tunes!  “NBT”, “Balding Matters”,  “Scalped” are probably what are considered to be album tracks or ‘filler’, but I can’t wait to spit ‘em out with as much venom as I did as a 19 year old. Then there are “Railroader”, “Repeat”, “Just Ace”, “Champion”, “Boundary”… it’s like a little treasure box of ditties!”

“I don’t think I really knew what I was doing when I made Guide To Better Living, but I know that playing this album from start to finish is going to be one of the most challenging, enjoyable & kickass things I’ll ever do!”

The tour announcement also coincides with a special re-release of the album itself, coming out on June 23rd. The 20th anniversary of Guide to Better Living expands on the original  16 track effort to a huge 49 track beast of unreleased recordings, rarities and live tunes. It’s also being made on vinyl for the first time, while including a second disc – Live at CBGB’s, 10 tracks of the band done at the iconic venue.

Joining Grinspoon on the road is Hockey Dad. Tickets are on sale to the general public from 9am, April 10th via www.grinspoon.com.au.

Telstra customers have access to a pre-sale courtesy of Telstra Thanks from 9am today, April 5th, for 48 hours. Head to www.telstra.com/music to be involved. Velocity Frequent Flyer Members have access to a pre-sale of their own from 11am, April 7th through until 8am, April 10th.
