The Tote is having a party... kind of. It’s actually more like a months worth of gigs to celebrate their 30th birthday as a venue. The lineup for this particular event was a quieter one with acoustic sets by Ben Salter, Tendrils and Gareth Liddiard.
Ben Salter opened up proceedings playing to a mostly empty band room. Donning only an acoustic guitar he rushed through a set of typical folky love songs.

Gareth Liddiard delivers the second film clip for the title track off his debut solo album Strange Tourist.
Filmed at the singers homestead in Havilah, produced and directed by Jasmin Tarasin (Pure Pictures) who has also created clips for Gareth before as well as The Drones, Augie March, Little Red, Mia Dyson and more.

If Lady Gaga makes you gag and you find the bells and whistles that fembot artists Britney, Pink, Christina, et al. employ leave you with a bad taste in your mouth, then LIVE may be the thing for you. Part of Sydney Festival, the event promises an intimate video study into the art of performing.
Sydney Festival continued rolling out the hits last night as the anticipated LIVE video installation opened up at the Lower Town Hall. We'll have some contributors heading along to the installation over the weekend who will fill you in properly, but let me just say that it's a fabulous feature of the festival.
LIVE is an intimate video study of the art of performing. It captures more than 20 of the world's best singers and musicians performing a song of their choice in stark simplicity on film and is presented as a large-scale video installation in the Lower Town Hall.
Excitement and anticipation for the next Laneway Festival is at fever pitch. Ticket sales are the strongest they’ve been everywhere, with the Melbourne and Sydney events selling out in record time, while news of the recently launched Singapore event made news around the globe and has been met with an incredible response across Asia.
