Single Stream: Coldplay "Miracles" (2014)

Recorded for the upcoming film Unbroken, directed by Angelina Jolie, mega band Coldplay have delivered one of their characteristic uplifting, melodic jams in the form of "Miracles". It's fairly standard Coldplay, with a stadium-sized chorus that hordes of people will be singing along to at shows, but the familiarity doesn't take away from the magic.

the AU interview: Aluna Francis and George Reid of AlunaGeorge (London) talk Beyonce, Melbourne music and Beyond The Valley!

Skills for days and vibe that pays, Aluna Francis and George Reid melt together with an uncanny unison. The dynamic duo are brazenly putting a spin of their own on incandescent electro pop. Over the years, AlunaGeorge have steadily ascended with their standout R&B laced electronica, teaming catchy melodies with simple, but incredible production.

Then had the audacity to only do one Australian show?! Of course, you do, if you were anywhere in the vicinity of a television, radio, computer or mobile device when Coldplay was recently in the country, fresh off the back of their smash album Ghost Stories, a conscious uncoupling and a well-overdue bout of Australian sing alongs. UK superstars Coldplay have returned to Australia for the first time since 2012's massive Mylo Xyloto stadium tour, this time for a short promotional run following the release of follow-up LP Ghost Stories (out now), the widely acclaimed record that has become known as lead singer Chris Martin's break-up record. Indeed, it's a deeply personal album, following Martin's widely publicized "conscious uncoupling" with wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

Album Review: Coldplay - Ghost Stories (2014 LP)

It's near-on impossible to listen to Coldplay's latest record without thinking of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's recent 'conscious uncoupling'. Ghost Stories is possibly one of the most indulgent heartbreak records I've come across in a while and while I don't particularly care for the tabloid aspect of the Martin/Paltrow divorce, this album makes me want to give Martin both a hug and a slap upside the head to get him out of whatever funk he was in at the time of writing these tracks.
