

If you were wondering why our previous installment of 'Most Anticipated Album Releases of 2012' didn't feature any local acts... there was a reason for that. We have debated, deliberated and pulled many strands of hair in wishing that more could be included in the list. However, the following native heroes made the cut... in no particular order:

This week have some massive tour updates to bring to you guys with Bombay Bicycle Club, New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, The Maine, Parkway Drive, Children Collide, Brian Setzer, Sublime, G3, Maceo Parker and Elbow all announcing some big tour news!
BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB: EXTRA SYDNEY SHOW

How do Australians celebrate Summer? Enjoying the sun? A day at the beach perhaps? A good music festival? Well, Hurley and Billabong have combined all of these into a two day event seeing some of Australia's largest acts play Manly Beach in February with a last "monster act" to be announced later this week!

Children Collide busted the gates open on their highly anticipated third album (titled Monument) with lead single "Sword To A Gunfight" showcasing the punchier, punkier direction while maintaining the licks of prog and psych rock. Frontman Johnny Mackay explained the single as "a time-travelling disco space-punk song" and quite frankly, we'd agree. Get a taste here:


A small crowed rolled up early to witness local three-piece Damn Terran kick off the evening with their post-punk fury. Damn Terran put on a ripper show with their passionate, energetic delivery. Front man Lachlan Ewbank has a compelling presence and his fierce vocal screams were perfectly suited to their massive sound.

In the grand tradition of Children Collide’s rabid fans securing tour tickets at an impressive rate, the erstwhile trio have sold out their Melbourne Corner Hotel date on their Loveless tour and moved right into a second show at the same venue on Sunday August 14th. Tickets are on sale and moving fast already. Also, in the aforementioned tradition, tickets to all other shows are shipping fast as weeks fly and these exciting dates draw close.

Architecture In Helsinki and Children Collide will headline HyperFest 2011, joined by Illy, San Cisco and Brow Horn Orchestra.
One of Perth’s biggest and best all-ages music festival HyperFest is back August 28, set to again blow the roof off the most unique venue in Perth, the Midland Railway Workshops.


It is well known that Children Collide apply themselves in a most dedicated fashion to bringing listeners the most intriguing content to accompany their music possible. Now, with majestic single Loveless the plot thickens as an astounding video and extensive tour dates are revealed.
I was at the Metro Theatre on an extra special Thursday night, the beginning of this epically long, long weekend. That night was special for two reasons, my first time to see Children Collide and also one of The Red Riders' final gigs.
