Cake Bake and Sweets show announces 2016 line up (Melbourne)

Slide into a world of sugary, over-the-top cakes and chocolate sculptures this October at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre because the Cake Bake and Sweets show has announced it’s yearly return. For three sweet days – 21st to 23rd October – the massive space will host home bakers, food-lovers, dessert enthusiasts, and some of Australia’s best known chefs, bakers, and decorators, all keen to indulge in a one of the country’s largest showcases of everything sweet.

Each year the show brings in a stacked line-up of bakers and 2016 will be no exception with the likes of Paul Joachim, the U.S based chocolate sculptor who has a reputation for being the world’s speediest dessert designer, who will be hosting a “chocolate genius” masterclass. Joining him will exhibitors such as Luke Hines (championing healthy desserts), Elena Duggan, MoVida’s Frank Camorra, and Queen of Hearts Couture Cakes. Each will be taking the stage throughout the event to impart various dessert wisdom.

Joachim will be testing the public’s creativity with his masterclass, hosting a three-day workshop where people will learn the methodologies and secrets to carving and manipulating 15kg blocks of chocolate into edible art. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll be crafting chocolate LeBron James or gifting J.K Rowlings a dessert Harry Potter sculpture like Joachim has in the past. Sliding into the Spring Carnival season, Joachim will also be creating a life-size chocolate sculpture of Aussie jockey Michelle Payne (last year’s Melbourne Cup winner) for the show.

Each year the Producers Marketplace brings in some of the state’s favourite local bakers so you can be sure to stumble upon loads of pastries, macarons, pies, and cakes as well as the latest baking ingredients, equipment, tools, and trends.
