About the AU review

Set up by Larry Heath, the online publication the AU review first appeared in Sydney in August 2008, with Melbourne coverage appearing soon after. In September 2009, the site was re-launched with its current design, the content direction was finalised, and the site expanded to Byron Bay and Gold Coast / Brisbane.

As of May 2011, the site has over 100 regular contributors - with Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra, Launceston, Wollongong and Perth now amongst the cities covered. We also feature Australian focused International coverage at major events such as Glastonbury, South by Southwest (SXSW) and Canadian Music Week.

MISSION STATEMENT ... the AU review will:

Provide readers with unbiased & independent reviews frrom writers around Australia.

Provide unique national exposure for a wide range of artists, never being defined by location or genre.

Provide up-and-coming writers and photographers with a unique online source, helping them establish a name and an identity that goes beyond the usual constraints of the internet. It’s THEIR content, not ours.

Provide bands and promoters with a publication that will support them editorially at no cost. Be it reviews, interviews, competitions - the AU review is here to help support and promote the diverse Australian music industry. This includes local artists, the international artists coming to Australia and the international artists who want to tour Australia (and/or have recently released material locally).

Provide extensive coverage of local up-and-coming talent and gigs happening in regional Australia.

Spread the sound and voice of Australian music globally. With 20% of our audience existing outside of Australia, we annually attend South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, as well as events like Canadian Music Week, Glastonbury, Coachella and more.
