Recipe: Kahlua Tiramisu

Nothing says I love you quite like packing all that love into a tiramisu, right? And since Valentines Day, that lovely calender day of love, is right around the corner we thought it best to search low and high for a tiramisu which is a bit different than your standard, with added distinctiveness from a packet of Abes Sea Salt Bagel Crisps. Try this one out and let us know how you go.

Kahlua Tiramisu (serves 2 – Prep time: 30 mins)

Ingredients

  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1⁄4 cup caster sugar
  • 1⁄4 cup mascarpone
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1⁄4 cup Kahlua
  • 1 packet of ABES Bagel Crisps Sea Salt
  • 30g dark chocolate, grated

Method

  1. Place the egg yolk and sugar in a mixing bowl and beat with electric beaters until pale (approx. 2 mins)
  2. Add the mascarpone and beat for a further minute on a low speed.
  3. In a separate bowl beat the egg white till soft peaks form. Gently fold in the cream and egg white into the mascarpone mixture
  4. Place ABES Bagel Crisps in a food processor and pulse till crushed and resembles bread crumbs. Pour in the Kahlua and mix with a spoon.
  5. In two glasses pour cream mixture into the bottom of the glasses, then a layer of the crumb mix. Repeat till all ingredients are used. Top with grated chocolate. The tiramisu can be eaten immediately, however it is better to let set in a fridge overnight.
