the AU interview at SXSW: Tamsin Wilson of Wilsen (UK) talks UK-US differences, and the new challenges of her upcoming album

the AU review caught up with English-born, New York based Tamsin Wilson, front woman of the ethereal dream-pop band Wilsen while she was in Austin for SXSW. Wilson was working on wrapping up and releasing the follow-up full length to 2014’s Magnolia EP. She described the upcoming album as “a mix of acoustic and electric”, and mentioned that she’d taken a more active role in the production side of recording the album as well, saying that “it’s been fun to try arranging songs whilst writing as well”.

On the difference between UK and US audiences, Wilson says that “Crowds are a lot quieter [in the UK]. They don’t interject or heckle as much as they do here, which I can’t tell if it’s nicer or worse. I remember the first couple of shows we played you just couldn’t tell what anyone was thinking, whereas here they’re just so vocal.”

Wilsen’s Magnolia EP is available now from iTunes. Keep an eye out for news of their next album. Follow her on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WILSENmusic
