Single of the Day: Brendan Maclean “Hugs Not Drugs (Or Both)” (2016)

Brendan Maclean has long been involved in the Australian music scene as one of our more underrated songwriters but here’s hoping, with the release of songs like “Hugs Not Drugs (Or Both)”, more people start noticing the gem of an artist working away hard in producing some great slices of pop music.

The new single from Maclean is a killer follow up to “Tectonic”, the single that demonstrated a new fact to his writing style – where melodies and infectious hooks have always been ready weapons in his music writing arsenal, Maclean takes things up another level on the tune in whipping together a catchy vocal with an excellent electro-rock beat punching through.

The percussion and the rolling nature of the chorus make “Hugs Not Drugs (Or Both)” the perfect tune to prepare for a big night out, to enjoy that liberating feeling alcohol provides on the dance floor or throw all your inhibitions away and get down to the good stuff at the end of the night.

Another great tune from Maclean – well deserving of your time.
