Exclusive Single Premiere: Dunluvly “Hazey” (2021)

Dunluvly

Dublin-based singer-songwriter and producer Dunluvly is all set to release his new single, “Hazey”. The single, a delightful slice of dream pop, is the culmination of three years work, and we’re pleased to bring you this exclusive first listen ahead of its official release tomorrow.

The single is Dunluvly’s first since the release of his EP Plethora last year, of which we featured the single “Too Late”. Like that track, “Hazey” features some beautiful fingerpicked guitar right up front. You’ve also got some layering happening with the guitar parts too, not to mention some creative use of delay effects.

There’s clearly a lot happening, but it never feels particularly overwhelming or cluttered. Instead, the smooth vocals combined with the instrumentation, delivers a relaxed, meditative, and rich sound. A little bit folky, a little bit dancey, a hundred percent Dunluvly. Here’s what he had to say about the track:

“I wrote this track about a state of distracted anxiety that I named ‘the haze’ at a young age. Through many years of being a bit of a hippie, I developed a way to map the things that would lead me into this state of mind. This song is the story of that process. I used a lot of dream-pop inspired chorus effects to create the wide airy sound for the guitar. I really enjoyed stacking a lot of vocal harmonies on this track too to beef up the chorus section.”

Listen to “Hazey” here first!

“Hazey” is released tomorrow, Friday 14th May. You can find and follow Dunluvly on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
