Nintendo redesigning Miiverse, adding screenshot gallery

Nintendo has announced they plan to roll out an overhaul of its Miiverse social platform on the Wii U in the coming months. The update will dump the activity feed for a play journal and will add new features like an album for keeping screenshots in.

According to the announcement on the Miiverse website, the screenshot album will allow users to hang onto 100 screengrabs in a private album.

It also goes on to talk about the play journal which will supersede the current activity feeds. The journal will let you keep records of what you’ve done in games as you’re playing them. To use it, you open the Miiverse during gameplay and create a new entry. The Wii U will take a screeny of whatever was happening at that moment (though this depends on whether the game or software you’re using supports screenshot capture) and you’re free to start journaling.

The redesign will also categorise posts as journal entries, discussions or drawings.

Lastly, once the redesign begins rolling out, Nintendo plans to up the number of posts you can create per day to 30, though in-game posts will not be included in that number.

Nintendo have not indicated an exact release date for the new features as yet.
