Ball Park Music take home the AU Award's inaugural People's Choice Award for best live act of 2014.

This morning on 2SER radio in Sydney, the AU review’s Larry Heath announced the winners of the first annual people’s choice award as part of the AU Awards – celebrating the best in live music in Australia.

Close to 10,000 votes were cast as fans from Australia and around the world voted for their favourite Australian live act of 2014. Coming in third for the award were The Griswolds, who have enjoyed a meteoric rise this year both at home and abroad. Second place went to deservedly to Melbourne rockers Kingswood, who have toured relentlessly off the back of their acclaimed record Microscopic Wars.

Winning the People’s Choice Award, however, were Brisbane’s Ball Park Music, who continue to grow in their status as one of the country’s best live bands – this award only solidifying what we already knew. The band released their acclaimed record Puddinghead earlier this year and filled up venues around the country on a series of national tours, the most recent of which, the “Trippin’ the Light Fantastic” Tour, with support from Millions and Pluto Jonze, was a smash hit.

The winners for the rest of the AU Awards will be announced at an event tonight at Sydney’s Hive Bar from 7pm. Entry is free!
