Horror producer Jason Blum to visit Australia for Halloween retcon

Known for producing a-grade, horror packed films Paranormal Activity and The Purge, Universal Pictures is bringing Jason Blum, one of Hollywood’s greatest producers and founder of Blumhouse Productions, to discuss his upcoming release Halloween.

Blum is a two-time Academy Award®-nominated and two-time Emmy and Peabody Award-winning producer. His multi-media company is known for pioneering a new model of studio filmmaking: producing high-quality micro-budget films. One of his career highlights, Paranormal Activity, was made for only $15,000 but exploded in the box office and grossed nearly $200 million globally, becoming one of the most profitable films in Hollywood History.

In the brand new Halloween film, Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago. The film serves as a direct sequel to the original 1987 film of the same name, while retconning the other nine sequels that have been released to date. Yes, this is the eleventh film in the franchise.

The film made its global debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) – Midnight Madness over the weekend with critiques racing in. The Hollywood Reporter said:

“…delivering both fan service and honest-to-god moviemaking of the sort rarely seen in horror spinoffs.”

Blum will be in Australia on October 4th and 5th, with his appearance schedule still to be announced.

Halloween will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures and will release in Australian cinemas on 18 October 2018.
