BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival goes online and international for 2020

Bad Sydney Crime

The 2020 BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival is all set to go ahead from 10-13 September. This year the festival will be held virtually, in what organisers are describing as a “4-day virtual crime extravaganza”.

Each year, the BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival showcases some of the best writers of crime fiction. This year, eight prominent international writers feature across morning and evening events, including Norwegian writer Jo Nesbø, UK star Ann Cleeves, revered US author Don Winslow and more.

With crime being one of the best-selling genres, the festival provides a rare opportunity to hear from a selection of Nordic, British and American authors via Zoom. Ticket prices are $10 or you can purchase a festival pass for $50.

Jo Nesbø will be discussing his new standalone book The Kingdom; whilst Camilla Läckberg will unpack her new novel The Golden Cage, a tale of female empowerment. Ann Cleeves will be zooming in to talk about The Darkest Evening. Husband and wife team Nicci French will unpack their skills of psychological suspense in their latest novel The Lying Room.

Don Winslow will be zooming in from the US to talk to Stephen Romei about Broken, his collection of six novellas. Forensic pathologist Kathy Reichs will be in conversation with Australian forensics expert Xanthé Mallett, talking about A Collection of Bones.

Furthermore, Karin Slaughter will be discussing her latest thriller The Silent Wife with Caroline Overington. And finally Canadian-Australian Tara Moss will shed light on her new heroine PI Billie Walker.

As it stands, the face-to-face festival showcasing local writers is still set to go ahead from 5-8 November in Sydney. But don’t miss this opportunity to catch some of the best international crime writers discuss their work.
