THE HIFI SYDNEY

Photo Gallery: Switchfoot + Breakaway - The HiFi, Sydney (01.04.15)

Gwendolyn Lee brings us these fantastic photos from Switchfoot and Breakaway at The Hi-Fi in Sydney on Wednesday night. Check them out here:

Live Review: Falling In Reverse + Escape The Fate + The Color Morale - The Hi-Fi, Sydney (27.02.15)

A full capacity show on a Friday night was something I half-expected for Falling In Reverse. Having struggled to set foot in Australia because of visa issues, it was a dream come true for many to see frontman, Ronnie Radke in the flesh. Waiting in line is always a tease and the struggle getting into the venue was real.

Photo Gallery: Tycho + Polographia - The Hi-Fi Sydney (10.01.15)

Tycho played a sublime set on the last date of their Australian tour at the Hi-Fi last night with Polographia and the Astral DJ's in support. Dan Turner was there and brings us these photos from the show:

Live Review: Joey Bada$$ + Run The Jewels + David Dallas - The Hi-Fi, Sydney (07.01.14)

With Falls Festival done and dusted for another year it was time for major hip hop drawcards Run The Jewels and Joey Bada$$ to take off on a brief double-headline tour around Australia, beginning with Sydney at The Hi-Fi. Along for the ride was accomplished Auckland emcee David Dallas, bringing with him the same strong body of work that has him as one of the best emcees to ever make it big out of New Zealand.

Live Review: Cold War Kids + Spookyland - The Hi-Fi, Sydney (06.01.15)

Unfortunately, I was unable to catch the entirety of Cold War Kids' set at the Lorne Falls Festival on New Year's Eve, so being able to fly in to Sydney and head down to The Hi-Fi to have another opportunity just felt right in the end.

Joey Bada$$ and Run the Jewels performed a double headliner at The Hi-Fi in Sydney last night. Belinda Dipalo was there to bring you these photos. Check them out:

Live Review: Kelis - The Hifi, Sydney (23.07.14)

Kelis brought her delicious hits, a band, and her amazing voice to her Splendour in the Grass sideshow at The HiFi in Sydney. I remember the first time I heard a Kelis song. I was 16 and "Milkshake" had just come on rage on a Saturday morning. Sadly, back then I didn't appreciate the song, the artist or her talent. I wrote her off as just being another of those boring, manufactured popstars and didn't really give her another thought.

Kelis is joined by Jones Jnr. at her Sydney Splendour sideshow. Nathan Atkins was in the pit and brings us these pics of both artists in action!

Photo Gallery: Band Of Skulls + Apes - The Hi-Fi, Sydney (20.06.14)

Band of Skulls returned to Sydney on Friday night, playing the Hi-Fi with Melbourne's Apes for a night of great rock and roll. Gwendolyn Lee was there and brings us these photos from the night:

Live Review: Band Of Skulls + Apes - The Hi-Fi, Sydney (20.06.14)

In the blue light, Russell Marsden’s voice blooms: “If I die tomorrow, would you be upset?” It’s the middle of Band of Skulls set, and it’s time to take a breath. Aided only by his own liquidy guitar, there are no thundering drums on this version of “Nightmares” - the lead cut off their latest record, Himalayan - but instead it’s been excellently re-imagined as a slow burning ballad.

Kid Ink brings "My Own Lane" tour to Australia!

After touring the United States, Los Angeles rapper, producer and performer Kid Ink is bringing his "My Own Lane" tour to Australia!

Live Review: DJ Premier & Pete Rock - The Hi-Fi, Sydney (03.05.14)

Illusive and Frontier Touring have kicked off their Collusion series in a big way, presenting a special collaborative tour from two of the primary architects who built the soundscape we now call 'the golden era' of hip-hop. Both DJ Premier and Pete Rock continue to inspire and uphold, carving the sound of authentic hip-hop by lending their highly sought after talents to a whole range of emcees; emcees which are well aware of the potential these two create every single time they hit the studio.

Live Review: Jimmy Eat World + Panic! At The Disco + Alkaline Trio - The Hi-Fi, Sydney (24.02.14)

From the opening piano of "Time to Waste", right up to the opening bars of acoustic guitar on "Radio" Alkaline Trio delivered their set with fervent energy as if somebody would tell them to get off stage any minute. It’s a testament to their lasting appeal and workmanlike consistency that the Hi-Fi is packed inside but still has a line of eager fans jostling to get inside when they take the early opening slot.
