Live Review: Tegan and Sara - Palais Theatre, Melbourne (02.05.13)

If an artist’s success was measured solely by whether they headline at St Kilda’s historic and iconic venue the Palais Theatre , then Tegan and Sara must be doing extremely well for themselves. Here to promote their latest release Heartthrob , which is a departure from their indie beginnings and a foray into more mainstream, electronic dance pop, the Palais is packed to the rafters.

Live Review: Puscifer - The Palais (28.02.12)

“No intermission, no encore, no support, no photography, video or audio recording of any kind” was emblazoned on the video screen on the Palais stage. One wondered what was in store with all these restrictions, and anyone whose perception of Maynard James Keenan was as an earnest musician was to be pleasantly surprised.

Photo Gallery: Bat For Lashes + Kirin J Callinan - Palais Theatre (05.02.13)

Natasha Khan aka Bat For Lashes put on a stunning performance at the Palais Theatre as part of her tour with St Jermone’s Laneway Festival.

Trending oddball Kirin J Callinan opened the evening with his artistic and peculiar style of warped indie. Droning guitars, screeching vocals, and the between set banter of a creepy uncle, Callinan is talented. really weird, but talented.

Live Review: Band of Horses + Mike Noga and the Gentlemen of Fortune - Palais Theatre (23.01.13)

The Palais is a majestic theatre harking back to yesteryear, with well worn seating, and a musty smell permeating the room. Shows at the Palais are often devoid of the incessant chatter that continues whilst bands play a pub show. Indeed Mike Noga makes mention of this when he says, 'You’re quiet and you make me nervous', to the silent punters, encouraging some cheers from the crowd and draws a grateful 'Thank you' from Mike.

Live Review: Missy Higgins + Butterfly Boucher + Gurrumul - Palais Theatre (04.12.12)

Missy Higgins and Gurrumul at the Palais Theatre

With two guest performances and loads of on-stage banter, Missy Higgins' gig on Tuesday night felt more like a casual, intimate session with friends than a sold-out show at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre.

Photo Gallery: Carrie Underwood - Palais Theatre (26.06.12)

Carrie Underwood dazzled the Palais Theatre with an amazing vocal performance that shows why she is one of the most in demand country divas in the world today.
