The OutsideIn Festival returned to Sydney on Saturday, filling the Manning bar with a diverse range of local and international artists from electronica to hip hop. Some of the highlights included Sable, Cosmo's Midnight, Devin The Dude, Pender Street Steppers, Africa HiTech and headlining the main stage - Big K.R.I.T. It was an incredible day. Check out photos from the event here:
It’s hard to believe that it’s been an entire ten years since Aussie legends Regurgitator last set foot in University of Sydney’s Manning Bar, and quite frankly, it’s a combination that I need to see more of. The room was filled with thirty-something’s, re-enacting the last time they saw the band when they, presumably, were still in university.
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead rocked the Manning Bar on Friday night with The Red Paintings in support. Dan Turner was there and brings us these photos from the show:
Sydney's Manning Bar got a sick dose of punk on Saturday night, when the much loved US crew Good Riddance came through! It's been a while since crowds have seen them in full flight and this show was one for the books, supported by Versus the World, Nerdlinger and The Great Awake. Photos by Gwendolyn Lee.
The Cosmic Psychos shook the packed out Manning Bar on Friday night with a blistering set. Dan Turner brings us this insight into the chaos!
Parquet Courts were supported by Straight Arrows last night at Sydney's Manning Bar. Evelyn Tija was there and brings us these photos from the stellar set:
So I think we all now know that Thom Yorke of Radiohead endorsed this festival back in it's inaugural year by showing up on the side of stage. Outside In is much more than that though; while it's fun to use Thom Yorke's name to get people to click on things, it's much more enjoyable watching Astral People turn their festival, now in it's third year, into the wonderland of eclectic music it has become via acts which don't necessarily have a profile as big as Yorke, but are equally innovative when it comes to their music. The style has been set, in that everything from the deepest of deep house, and most left-field of experimental sounds, to the most underground of hip hop, will be on display each year as this unique festival continues to grow.
Legendary Sydney band Radio Birdman played a Sold Out hometown show at the Manning Bar over the weekend, supported by Hard-Ons and Hits. Pete Dovgan brings you the photos.
Bodyjar hit up the Manning Bar on Friday night in Sydney. Gwendolyn Lee was there and brings you these photos of the band and supports in action:
As the run of Splendour in the Grass sideshows draws to a close, Evelyn Tjia brings us photos from Wild Beasts and Jesse Davidson at the Manning Bar in Sydney:
English four piece Wild Beasts have always been critical darlings. Their musical arrangements are brave and bold and they have shown daring intelligence to constantly evolve and avoid repeating themselves or jumping the shark and doing something so daft as to release a dance album. Across their last four albums there has been a trend to pare back, removing layers of sound to more bare arrangements.
Legendary doom rockers Earth played to a packed crowd at The Manning Bar last night with locals We Lost The Sea as support. Dan Turner was there and brings us these photos from the night:
When Kingswood and Calling All Cars get together, you know it's going to be a big one. This gig featured special guests, a lot of crowd participation, and lead singers sharing their alcohol. Amongst all the craziness, there were a lot of rocking tunes. It was a great night and a gig to be remembered.
