CHERRY BLUES

Eagle and the Worm have been creating something of a buzz around themselves since emerging last year and have just released their debut album Good Times, a ten song ode to upbeat soulful rock n’roll. To celebrate the album’s release the eight piece behemoth gathered at Melbourne’s Cherry Bar, a long established haunt for those who enjoy busting a shaky move, on a Thursday, the venue’s long established soul night.
Another rainy, cool afternoon in Melbourne saw punters flock to AC/DC Lane to witness, among other things, the reformed Died Pretty some 25 years after their inception, (they had a six year break and reformed three years ago), and Jesse Hughes with his interesting girlfriend Tuesday Cross. A few would say that the line-up this year was somewhat hit and miss, however ticket sales would show that the crowd was almost as large as last year when Rose Tattoo were featured.

On a nondescript Tuesday night, prior to the long awaited Easter break, The Cherry Bar is packed to sweaty capacity, with fans of Alternative/Country act Dale Watson & His Lonestars. Dale Watson is infamous for his independent stance in the country music scene, and as a result, eschewing the luxuries of fame and fortune; but all the better for his fans. He remains true to his art form, wearing his heart on his sleeve, producing pure country music songs that stir the emotions and that dry, dry martini.

At the Cherry Bar, AC/DC lane, James "The Hounddog" Young's birthday was celebrated in true rock 'n' roll style with excellent performances by all-star local AC/DC tribute band, The Cherry Bons and original AC/DC vocalist, Dave Evans.
